Who Why How   Brief Overview   Weekly Summary   Daily Summary   Read Journal   Wednesday 4/12/06 - 9 Days Post Surgery 6am: Last night was similar to the night before and probably the night before that. 2 Tylenol PM let me sleep for 4 hours. I wake up with pain in the surgery area and every muscle I have been stretching and working. I take 2 more Tylenol PM and use ice and other magic to reduce the pain and return to sleep. Two hours later when I'm still awake, I take a half of a Percocet and fall asleep for 2 more hours. Tonight when I wake up after 4 hours, I plan on taking 1 Percocet rather than Tylenol PM. Maybe that will help me get more sleep. I may also take a nap this afternoon. Now that I'm sitting up, had a cup of coffee and am reading my e-mail, writing in my journal and working on this website, I'm feeling quite all right. There is only the barest of ache in my left hip. Noon: I have more flexibility each day. And, overall the dull ache is diminished. However, sharp pains come on suddenly and then subside, while going through specific movements. The are the same area that Megan stretched and massaged yesterday. It is to be expected, she told me. These will diminish also as the muscles and tendons work normally. I've walked several times today for 75-200 yards each time. Other than heel to toe, keeping my knee and foot pointed forward and standing straight, I now need to learn to flow through the step with left hip, just as I do my right hip. Right now I am still lifting my left hip at the end of the step to carry my leg forward. It's been a very successful day. I can tell there has been some progress. |
