Thursday 4/6/06 - 3 Days Post Surgery

Chuck and I are getting better at putting on  Ted Hose. My biggest problem yesterday is now getting solved, but I have a new, biggest problem. I'm constipated and terribly uncomfortable. This is not typical for me and I don't have even one laxative in the house. When they said that I would be constipated, they weren't kidding!

Percocet agrees with me more than Vicodin. I took one when I woke last night in too much pain to go back to sleep. I get stiff when I sleep.

Pam came by and my vitals are good. She removed the bandage and said I could take a shower.

I did all my exercises and they increased the pain. But it wasn't all that bad. I was more flexible afterward. And then when I sat at the computer I became stiff again. Suggestion: Get a 2'x3' piece of new cardboard to slide your foot during your exercises. It is light weight, works well and inexpensive.

In the house I use my walker only about half the time. Sometimes it's more inconvenient than beneficial. I walk slow, and touch the wall to ensure that I don't lose my balance. It has never been a problem though.

Chuck walked with me around our condo complex again today. It's about 50-75 yards, all on sidewalk. Again I used the walker on the way back.

My stomach is still slightly upset, but my appetite returned. I wanted pizza with bell pepper!
