Tuesday 5/2/06 - 29 Days Post Surgery

9am: Well.... I had a good night although I still required Percocet at 2am. This morning I got out early on the  stationary recumbent cycle. I cycled a full 20 minutes, got my heart rate up  and sweated! This is a milestone.

In the last 8 months since I've been inactive, my body has lost muscle, replaced it with fat and gained 8 pounds. The end result is that most of my clothes don't fit. I did not focus on all of this because there was not much I could do about it. And, if I focused on it I could become depressed. My goal at the time was to keep my mood up even though I was inactive and  my body was changing.  I think that I succeeded in that.

Now that I can be active enough to sweat with exertion, I can look at my body and the situation realistically. Getting back into shape will progress slowly, but it can now start. I'm very happy and encouraged.

9pm: I walked several places today. I just wanted to be outside, walking in places that I haven't been able to since last August. I ended up walking along the Rillito river bike path at sunset. It was marvelous.
