Monday 5/1/06 - 28 Days Post Surgery

7am: I slept long and well last night but I sure am stiff this morning. I think that I'm having a slow time recovering from my physical therapy with Megan last Friday. She took me into a new range of motion. I was very tight and there was some sharp pain.... some 'catching' and I haven't been as pain free or flexible since then. She is coming today so we must work on that same motion range.

11am: Megan was here and she noticed right away how tight I was. First she worked my soft tissue and then help me flex into the new range of motion. It's still painful but she reassured me that it would totally heal in another week or two. Then I would have pain free mobility in that range. She also reassured me regarding my incision. Yes it is healing.

I'm starting to anticipate some of my old favorite activities that will become 'new again'. On the top of my list is bicycling. Maybe at my 6 week check up with Dr Cohen he will tell me I can bicycle. I know it will be slow going at first. But I know that before long I will be able to cycle to Saguaro National Park East with is about 6 miles. What a milestone that will be!

4pm: I took another nap today. I just couldn't stay awake. It felt so good. I do feel refreshed

8pm: I went for a good long walk (with my cane) starting at about 6pm when it wasn't so hot. It felt good and I kept walking. The sun started to set and the colors were magnificent. Between the walking, stretching and sunset I felt rejuvenated. I was out about an hour. I probably walked about 2 miles at about 2 miles per hour. At about 45-50 minutes the hip area started to get tight. There was no pain, just tightness. Again I'll be ready for sleep in about an hour.
