Tuesday 4/4/06 - 1 Day Post Surgery

I woke up ready to greet the world. I ate breakfast, talked with my doctor, who said I was doing well and could go home after my afternoon physical therapy. So at 10am I had morning physical therapy where I walked with my walker, climbed stairs and did other strengthening and stretching exercises. Later at 2pm I went for my afternoon physical therapy where I did more of the same. Everything feels tight and there is some pain, but I'm amazed that I have any mobility.

At 4pm I left for home. The ride in the bucket seats of the car were somewhat painful, but when I arrived home I climbed the 12 steps to our condo without problem or undue pain. I was tired and sore by then. The morphine had totally worn off and the physical therapy had taken its toll. As the day wore on my pain increased and fluxuated between mostly nonexistent when I was still and very distracting when I moved.

I slept from 6pm  until 6am. I was tired and my brain was foggy. Even t.v. was too much. During the night I took a total of 3 Tylenol and 1 Vicodin. Vicodin kills the pain but my system doesn't like it and complains. I will use Tylenol only, until I can get the prescription changed.
