Monte Verde Cloud Forest
One of my top
priorities, at any cost, was to go on a canopy tour in the rain forest.
Normally I am not particularly extravagant, but in this case price was
not the object. This was going to be a fun, educational, once in a
lifetime experience. I could tell that Chuck was not pleased, but he has
known me long enough not too object to forcefully when I'm committed.
The cloud forest was captivating. It was misty and rainy while the sun was
out and the rain never hit the ground. Upon reaching Santa Elena I
happily walked through this mist and went in search of my canopy tour.
There were several canopy tours offered. The problem was that all of
them were marketed with glitzy videos as a thrill seekers ultimate ride.
It was a total mismatch for my expectations and I came back to my room
slightly bewildered. We decided to backpack for several days in the
cloud forest instead. |
