Spanish Immersion - Guadalajara Mexico Sep-Nov 2002

La Casa de Marta

IMAC coordinated our 'home stay' with Marta Lopez and her adult son, Emilio. Men in Mexico live with their family until they are married. I find that as uncustomary and they find us Americans moving out on our own in our early 20's. Marta has 2 other 18 year old Mexican students living with her. David is and engineering student and Jorge studies film making. They have a German Shepard dog named Hitler. I found that rather strange, but they acted like it was common place.

I have been studying Spanish for the last 6 months on my own. I don't know as much Spanish as I thought. I am very slow to comprehend what is being spoken to me.
