Cycling From Florida to Niagara Falls (spring 2002)

Sunrise In Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

Day 23 - 71mi - Hostel - Kitty Hawk, NC

Very sunny with a very strong tailwind.

The cycling was absolutely magnificent. Ocean on the right and the sound on the left and a little strip of sand separating us from each.

The beaches and campgrounds were far to hot, sandy and windy to stop early and enjoy ourselves, so we cycled all the way to Kitty Hawk.

Clouds had been building the last hour and it started to rain when we got to Kitty Hawk so we checked into the hostel there. We were pleasantly surprised to get a room with a kitchen and community room all to ourselves.

I discovered Cybercade, a cyber cafe in Kitty Hawk. Their focus was internet games and their walls were decorated with computer boards and paintings of circuits. Black lights provided the lighting. It was very contemporary and cool. And best of all, I was able to pick up my e-mail.

Seven people from the WSL who lived in Virginia responded to my e-mail! Several lived too close together to all be of benefit. I replied to all giving them my intended route and itenerary and indicated that I would e-mail back in a couple of days with an update.
