Cycling From Florida to Niagara Falls (spring 2002)

Terminus of the C&O Trail - Cumberland, Maryland

Day 32 - 52mi - La Valle, Maryland

It was going to be a short day. Twenty five miles to the end of the C & O in Cumberland and then a motel for the night with time to explore the city.

The motels were full when we arrived and the weather was becoming colder and wetter as it got later in the day. We sat at a local restaurant, refueled our bodies and assessed the situation.

We decided to cycle on. It was a good thing that we had been cycling for 5 weeks. All we did from Cumberland was climb and climb and climb.

We came to a motel called the Slumberland in La Valle just as it started snowing. I was wet from sweating and cold from the drop in temperature. I was thankful for the room with the wall heater.
