Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
Day 37 - 45mi - Pittsburg, Pennsylvania There is no GOOD bicycle route into Pittsburgh. It is a great city, but it was built too long ago and has grown too much to be bicycle friendly without a great deal of renovation. With that said, I think Pittsburgh is a wonderful city and the HI Hostel is A+. We stayed for 3 days and enjoyed every minute. I will go back every opportunity I get The ball fields are downtown and are situate in such a way that they invited one to come to the games. I would be a great fan if I lived there. The older sections of the city, built high on the hills were enjoyable to walk through. We ate breakfast at an older diner built sometime in the 1940s. We walked through the ethnic markets and spent time in the museums. When we walked back up the hill to the hostel I enjoyed looking out over the confluence of the Monongahela and the Allegheny Rivers and all the bridges that joined one side to the other. Every time I crossed I tried to cross on a different bridge. It was splendid. Yes I would go back in a minute. Allegheny Trailphotolog: 9 of 9 [ <prev| to Ohio> ] |
