Start of the Allegheny Rails to Trails

Day 33 - 45mi - Rockwood, Pennsylvania

We woke up to fog and drizzle and considered staying in the motel room for another day. That thought was short lived because we were both interested in getting to the Allegheny Trail, one of the old railroads that was converted to a multipurpose trail when the railroad no longer used it.

We continued to climb and by 11am the fog had totally lifted and the drizzle stopped. It was still overcast and comfortable for cycling.

I got us lost. I tried to take a short cut on Pocahonta Road to get to CR546. Stupid! We had to backtrack and do more climbing. We flagged down a man in a truck and he looked at us like we had some marbles missing as he told us that we could not get to there from here.

We finally made it to Meyersville and the high altitude end of the Allegheny Trail.
