Nepal - Independent Travels (Nov 2001)

Russian Jeep

This jeep took us to the starting point, up river, for our 3 day trek. I asked Puru how far we would hike today and every day. I expected an answer in kilometers, distance. He gave me an answer in time. That was also typical during our trek from Pokhara. As I thought about the answer, I realized it was also true of smaller distances within Pokhara and Kathmandu. Distances were given in number of minutes walking time.
