Tidbits & Thoughts

Vagabond not Vagabondage. Pack only one bag . Carry it around for a half an hour & then repack it lighter.

*Threading
a term coined by Paul Otteson in his book The World Awaits. When I read it, I realized immediately that he had defined the way in which I enjoyed traveling.

Independent Travel - Threading*

... was the Rekindled Dream

Require Less & Retire Younger

... was the plan to get there

Let Go and Soar

... was the leap from the plan to the reality

Independent Travel - the Dream

When I saw photos or documentaries of far away places I always dreamed of  experiencing  the peoples,  places, realities and adventures myself.

Retire Younger

The only way to experience what I wanted in the depth that equaled my imagination was to retire younger. Retiring younger meant being financially independent before we were too old to rekindle those dreams.

Require Less

Requiring less means enjoying more of our time and our money while requiring less money for our day to day expenses than what we earned. It was a process of becoming financially independent

Becoming financially independent meant that we expected more value and enjoyment from the money that we spent.

Becoming financially independent meant requiring less of those things that were not good value for the money spent.

We retired in 2001. I was 51 and my husband Chuck was 52..

Let Go and Soar

The key to making  the dream a reality was to let go of the fear and other show stoppers in order to experience the world more fully.

Travel Photo Chronicles...

These web pages are primarily the photo logs of our independent travels along with the details that have supported that dream.

... if you envision yourself in far off places

but would like to have someone share with you how it works before you 'let go and soar', then I hope these pages provide that.

... if you enjoy thumbing through an interesting coffee table book

these pages are also for you to browse and enjoy...

... if you would like to rekindle any dream

I hope these pages inspire you...

Web Site Development - for the curious

Along the way when people have talked with us, they have made the same suggestion over and over. "You should write a book."

The web seemed a natural medium and so I bought a computer and some books. Then I took an on-line class and this web began.

As I continue to develop this web site and publish my photo travel logs, I have decided to keep my web site project plan, development tasks and history on-line for those people who have curious minds that are wired similar to mine. I got the idea from the Ken Kifer web site. I enjoyed reading about his thinking and decided to incorporate a spin off idea.
